Seven-time Formulation A person winner Lewis Hamilton obtained his knighthood for providers to motorsport on Wednesday, times after he lost out on what would have been a record eighth title after a tense last lap at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Hamilton retains the document for most race wins with 103 whilst he is tied with German wonderful Michael Schumacher on 7 drivers’ championships.
The 36-calendar year-outdated Briton, the sport’s only Black driver, was built a Knight Bachelor by Britain’s Prince Charles during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle in England.
Hamilton is the fourth F1 driver to be knighted after the late Australian Jack Brabham, Stirling Moss and triple champion Jackie Stewart, and the only 1 to have gained the award while still racing.
Other energetic sportsmen who have acquired a knighthood are cycling’s Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins, Olympic 5,000 and 10,000 meters gold medallist Mo Farah, twice Wimbledon winner Andy Murray and England cricketer Alastair Cook.
Hamilton lost out on the 2021 title to Crimson Bull driver Max Verstappen on Sunday. The two were equivalent on points before the ultimate race in Abu Dhabi, where by the Dutchman overtook Hamilton on the ultimate lap to elevate his maiden title.
